### **Step 1: Enable SMTP in Your Email Service**

Access your email service and look for **\[Settings].** Generally, you will find a **\[POP3/IMAP Settings]** menu. Ensure that the **\[Enable POP3/SMTP]** option is turned on.

If you cannot find this menu, please reach out to your email provider’s customer support team and request the following information:

* **SMTP Server Address**
* **SMTP Port Number**

### **Step 2: Set Up an App Password**

Many providers are shifting from standard password authentication to **App Passwords** for better security. If your service requires 2-step verification, generate an app password before proceeding to the next step.

> *Note: If your email provider does not require "2-Step Verification" or an "App Password" for SMTP, please skip to Step 3.*

### **Step 3: Complete Sender Email Settings**

1. Open a new browser tab and go to your **Creatorlink Sender Email Settings** for the specific block.
2. In the Email Platform selection, click **\[Custom]**.
3. Enter your **Sender Name**, **Sender** **Email Address**, and **Mail Server Account Login Password or App Password.**
4. Enter the SMTP details from your provider as follows:
 * **Mail Server (SMTP Server):** This is the address used to connect and send your emails. Please enter the server address provided by your email service. (e.g.,smtp.domain. If it’s yahoo email for example: smtp.mail.yahoo.com)
 * **Port (SMTP Port):** This is the port number used to access the mail server. Please enter the port number provided by your email service.(e.g., *465* or *587*).
 * **Security Connection (SSL/TLS):** This is the security method used to send emails safely. Please choose the method recommended by your email provider.

#### 1. What is SMTP?

**SMTP** stands for *Simple Mail Transfer Protocol*. Put simply, it is a **digital mail carrier that delivers the emails created in your app to recipients around the world**. You can think of it as an **email sending service**.

While **IMAP/POP3** are used to **receive** emails, **SMTP** is used only to **send** emails.

* **Why is this setting needed?** If your SMTP settings are incorrect, you may still be able to read incoming emails, but errors can occur when you try to reply to or send a new email.

***

#### 2. What is a Mail Server (SMTP Server)?

It is the specific server where your email is processed on the internet.

* **Why is this setting needed?** Think of it as the **branch address of a post office**. Without this address, the app will not know where to send your email for delivery.

***

#### 3. What is a Port (SMTP Port)?

A port is a specific communication channel used by the server.

* **Why is this setting needed?** A post office has multiple service counters. For example, **counter 465 or 587** can be thought of as the one used specifically for **sending mail**. Your app must use the correct channel to send emails properly.

***

#### 4. What is a Secure Connection (SSL/TLS)?

This is the process of encrypting the connection and verifying that the user is the actual account owner.

It is similar to showing your **ID card** to a postal worker to confirm, “Yes, I am the owner of this account.”

> :information\_source: **About SSL and TLS**
>
> **SSL** stands for **Secure Sockets Layer**. It was first developed by Netscape in the early 1990s as the original standard protocol for encrypting data exchanged between web browsers and web servers.
>
> **TLS** stands for **Transport Layer Security**. It was created as the successor to SSL to address security weaknesses and improve functionality.

* **Why is this setting needed?** It is like putting your letter into a **locked envelope** before sending it, so that no one can read its contents while it is in transit.

#### 5. How should I set the SMTP Port and Secure Connection (SSL/TLS)?

Most email apps today, such as Outlook and iPhone Mail, can automatically detect the correct combination once you enter the server address. However, if you need to configure it manually, we recommend using the default combination based on the port number, such as **465 + SSL**.

**Recommended combinations:**

✔ **Combination 1**

* **Port Number:** `465`
* **Secure Connection:** `SSL`
* **Description:** Your email is encrypted from the very beginning of the connection. This is one of the most commonly recommended methods.

✔ **Combination** **2**

* **Port Number:** `587`
* **Secure Connection:** `TLS` (or `STARTTLS`)
* **Description:** The connection starts normally and then switches to an encrypted connection. This is often used when port 465 is not available.

#### 6. What are IMAP and POP3?

When receiving emails, you need to decide how your device will retrieve emails from the server. You can think of these as **email receiving methods**.

#### 1) IMAP (Sync Method) :mirror:

* **Simple explanation:** Instead of taking the original letters away, it is like **viewing the original mail through a window while it stays at the post office**.
* **Features:**
 * If you read or delete an email on your phone, the same change is reflected on your PC and tablet as well.
 * Essential if you check your email on **multiple devices**, such as a phone, PC, and tablet.

#### 2) POP3 (Download-and-Store Method) 🚚

* **Simple explanation:** It is like going to the post office and **putting all your letters into your own bag** (your computer or phone).
* **Features:**
 * Once downloaded, emails may no longer remain on the server, or may not appear on other devices.
 * Useful if you want to manage your email from **one device only**, such as a single PC.

**💡 Tip:**

If you check your email on multiple devices in real time, we recommend using IMAP.
